Anthony has been on staff with us since 2016.
Anthony already had a passion for working with, advocating for, and raising up countless children prior to coming on staff at PNN (now Agape Global). If you spend time chatting with him, he’ll recall many times in his life even as a young man where the Lord encountered him in many ways, showing him that one day he would be used to care for the vulnerable and help raise up a generation for the Lord. It is truly remarkable to sit with him, hear of these encounters, and then see them bearing fruit first-hand decades later in the countless lives he has impacted for the glory of God.
We have seen over the years his dedication to our vision, ability to train other leaders around him, willingness to stand as a father figure to many of our children, and the morals, values, and lessons that equip him to mold the next generation to impact society around them.
Anthony has devoted the latter part of his life to this cause and believes wholeheartedly that his calling is to look after, defend, and care for these at-risk orphans and children in dire and vulnerable situations.
We want to take this time to honor Anthony Dontou for the years of devotion to our projects, our mothers, staff, and children.
Whenever you come to Village of Hope in Ghana, or Village of Joy in Zambia, when you hear shouts and chants of “Da” (the children’s way of calling him dad”), you know that Anthony is loved. It’s a beautiful sight to see children running after him, jumping on his car when he comes in, or begging him not to go when he travels between our projects. He truly is loved by all.
Anthony is many things: A voice of reason, adored by all of our children, a safe place, devoted to this vision, committed to instilling a biblical kingdom culture into both campuses and a fierce advocate for prayer.
A personal memory that illustrates his devotion and character when “no one is looking:”
During my time living in Ghana, and on shorter visits living in Zambia, the mornings before the sun would rise, I would see Anthony walking around the campus praying tirelessly. These are times, when no one is looking, when there is no benefit for the praise of man, that Anthony has cultivated such a deep history in his personal life of prayer to the Lord. He truly doesn’t miss a moment to pray before each day. This greatly reflects his character, and he is someone I personally admire and look up to. Anthony is our “boots on the ground,” serving as our project oversight, managing the day-to-day in both campuses. He splits his time between Ghana and Zambia, training our staff and leaders to model the family-care love of Christ and the commitment to better the lives of the children we serve. This job is far from easy and takes a special individual to serve day in and day out with little recognition, so today we want to publicly honor his time and say THANK YOU for all you do! -Devon
Take a moment today to pray and lift up Anthony as he says “yes” to the call of God over his life, to serve the least of these, for this truly is the greatest call.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
